COLLABORATION ZIP WESTERN BOOTS
We’ve created a pair of boots in collaboration with STITCHDOWN, a leading American online shoe media.
We first met them last year when they stopped by our shop during a visit to interview a Japanese boot manufacturer.
They tried out a few of our boots and were impressed with our concept of creating shoes that are simple, tough, yet somehow elegant.
We’ve now decided to create a pair of collab boots for BOOT CAMP, an offline event they’re hosting on November 8th of this year.
We’ll be attending the event in Chicago, bringing sample boots to try on.
The collab boots we created are the AB-05 ZIP WESTERN BOOTS, which are popular both in Japan and overseas.
This ZIP WESTERN BOOTS is typically made using a CL last with a thin toe box, and the form is constructed using a pattern designed to be even tighter.
This is to create a sharp boot that takes advantage of the thin toe box last.
As a result, may feel a bit of pressure when first put them on, but the result is a one-of-a-kind boot with a tight silhouette.
However, foot shapes are all different, and it’s undeniable that those with high insteps or wide feet will find the boots a bit cramped.
So, while maintaining the sharp look, we’ve used a slightly more voluminous ST LAST in the toe area to reduce the tightness,
and designed the pattern to be a bit more roomy.
While the CL last ZIP WESTERN BOOTS use horsehide leather, for this collaboration we’ve used tea core horsebutt.
The sole has also been changed from VIBRAM 269 to 2430, and the heel angle has been changed from a curved shape to a tapered heel.
The result is a rugged ZIP WESTERN BOOTS that retains its sharp look.
Orders can only be placed through the official ADDICT CLOTHES online store, which has already been opend, and even those not attending the event can place an order there.
The order period is from November 8th, the day of the event, until the 23rd.
